Being the most recent generation of Silverado to hit the market, it will be the best equipped at the time this article was written. At launch, this model came in 8 trims, with these being the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country trims.
No matter the trim, you'll find that it comes with a next-generation touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth for hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming. This makes it easy to get in and connect without much input from you. The last of the standout features for this generation is the rearview backup camera system.
If you're lucky, you may find a model that is equipped with some optional features, with these being a Bose premium audio system with seven speakers, keyless access and push-button start, a remote starter system, heated and ventilated luxury leather-trimmed seating surfaces, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated rear seats.
This generation also came with a ton of engines to pick from. The following list details the engine options available:
- 4.3L V6 (dropped in 2022), and it made 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque.
- 2.7L turbocharged I4 (dropped in 2022) that made 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. With a max towing capacity of 9,300 pounds.
- 2.7L turbocharged high-output I4 (introduced in 2022) that makes 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. With a max towing capacity of 9,300 pounds.
- 3L Duramax I6 (dropped in 2022) that made 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. With a max towing capacity of 9,500 pounds.
- 3L Duramax I6 (introduced in 2023) that makes 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. With a max towing capacity of 13,300 pounds.
- 5.3L V8 (dropped in 2022) that made 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. With a max towing capacity of 11,300 pounds.
- 6.2L V8 that makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. With a max towing capacity of 13,300 pounds.
If you want something with the best mileage from this lineup, then you'll want the earlier diesel engine. This is because it comes with an EPA-rated 27 MPG combined.
While the 2020 model didn't see anything new, the 2021 model saw some new additions. This was the newly named Multi-Flex six-position tailgate that can change into a handful of configurations, ranging from steps to stoppers. Wireless phone connectivity was also added to the model.
For the 2022 models, there were two main changes. The first one is that all trims, except for the base trim, now come with a massive 13.4-inch touchscreen display that makes it even easier to see what your phone is connected to.
The other thing that was added was the ZR2 trim. This brought some off-road fun to the lineup. This year, Car and Driver also noted that the model comes with a "diverse selection of strong engines, solid handling for a pickup truck, and much-improved interior quality and tech features."
Some things that you can look for on the ZR2 are the 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory off-road tires and advanced Multimatic spool-valve dampers. This helps you maintain control, as well as confidence, when hitting the trails.
